Smyrna Charter School land contract falls through
In a letter to all those involved with the Smyrna Charter School this week, it was announced that the contract to purchase the land at the corner of Church Road and South Cobb Drive had fallen through. The school has begun looking at alternative solutions in order for the school to start up this fall. The letter follows:
We received some news this week which results in a need to resume the search for a property to house the Imagine International Academy of Smyrna. IIAS had been in longstanding negotiations with the Word of Faith church to purchase the land located at 3059 S. Cobb Drive in Smyrna. It was announced late this week that the church is no longer in a position to sell the property.
We were disappointed to learn of this turn of events, as IIAS had been planning on purchasing this property for quite some time. While the church’s decision is unexpected, we are moving forward in our search for a permanent home for IIAS and have identified several temporary locations for the school. We expect to make an announcement soon.
We will open on schedule in the Fall in a temporary home, while moving full steam ahead toward building our permanent school in a new location. We wanted to share the unexpected news with you, the Friends of IIAS, before the news media is notified Sunday evening, and to affirm our unwavering commitment to IIAS. Imagine Schools, the Founding Board of parents, and the Smyrna community are all dedicated to delivering a quality school of choice to Cobb County, and we will not be derailed by a change in location.
